Aegean Airspace busier than usual! August 26, 2001 Dateline: Istanbul, Turkey
UPDATE to original News Article dated August 13, 2001
Mystical Universe reported on an unusual incident that occurred earlier this month regarding a UFO Sighting witnessed by two Turkish Air Force Pilots on a training mission.
NOTE:
Some of the information contained in this UPDATE may be repetitive, but we feel this is necessary to maintain continuity of this amazing Sighting. In addition, as we did previously, we are
posting the original statement as we received it, so as to not overlook any important detail. We sincerely hope you do not feel we are being 'lazy' by presenting text word for word, as was reported.
We feel that in certain instances, our Guests benefit from reading the actual transcripts.
This information was obtained directly from the President of the Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research
Center, 'Haktan Akdogan.' It is as follows:
"TURKISH AIR FORCE PILOTS ENCOUNTER A U F O"
"Turkish army pilots have encountered a UFO while flying over the Agean town
of "Izmir-Candarli" skies.
First Lieutenant Ilker Dincer and Lieutenant Arda Gunyer from Turkish Air Force took off with a T-37 jet at 12:30 p.m. from 2nd Jet Base Commandery located in Izmir for a
training flight.
While they were flying over Candarli on a routine training flight off the Turkish Aegean coastal town of Candarli, First Lieutenant Ilker Dincer and Lieutenant Arda Gunyer encountered a pyramid-cone
shaped, luminous object which was approaching them at high speed. Dincer immediately called the control tower and Regional War Alert Center and asked them to detect the unusual shape object on
their radars. All this time the object kept flying along the T-37 jet. But the War Alert Center reported that they couldn't detect a second object different than Dincer's jet.
As the object approached T-37's wings Dincer's words of "Object is approaching our wings. Now it is behind us. I'll have it in the front by tono... Now it's in front
of us, this thing is literaly dog fighting with us" were heard on the radio. The UFO made maneuvers around the plane for about 15 minutes. Then it suddenly disappeared with tremendous speed.
After the pilots returned to their home base in Izmir-Cigli, they reported the incident to the Air Force. The Air Force announced that the object that the pilots had encountered was a herd of birds or a meteorology balloon.
Journalists and TV reporters have contacted Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research Center located in Istanbul-Turkey and made interviews about this incident. The Center told
"It is impossible for a balloon or a bird herd to dogfight with a jet at such high speed. Nor could the two army pilots could have been hallusinating at the same time. Also Turkish Air Force pilots are well
trained and are capable of differentiating a disk shaped object from a meteorology ballon or birds. However the meteorology have reported that they didn't have any balloons over the area at that
date. And if it was a balloon why couldn't the radars detect anything? We definetely don't find the Air Force's explanation satisfying at all and this is just another cover-up story."
The media shares the same opinion of Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research Center. So the case is not closed and is still all over papers and national TVs everyday.

According to reports from very reliable sources, 'something' approached two Turkish Trainee Pilots while they were over the Aegean Sea, near the town of Candarli.
This 'something' was not just a flash in the pan either. The description these Trainees gave to their home base Control Tower was rather specific and it seems this encounter lasted for approximately thirty minutes.
Approaching their T-37 at a high rate of speed, a 'bright object' basically played 'tag' with them. To quote the newspaper report from Hurriyet, the report went like this: "Object approaching the wings.
Now it's behind the plane..... now it's in front of us." In addition to relaying this information to their Control Tower, they also notified the Regional War Alert
Center of the Turkish Army. In that report, they also advised that the "UFO had an unusual shape that looked like a cross between a cone and a disc."
Both the Turkish and Greek Air Forces were beginning an investigation. In addition, the Turks were intent on notifying NASA.
NOTE:
Mystical Universe tried to secure the original newspaper article from the Hurriyet, but unfortunately,
could not secure an English translation. However, we did locate some additional data from another Turkish newspaper, The Turkish Daily News. Due to the intensity of what this newspaper revealed, we
are posting it in it's original context. This is rather startling information. Please read, digest it's content and make your own decisions. Nancy, Director of Operations, Editor
"Turkish Daily News" "Pilots often report unusual maneuvers of unidentified objects above known technology.
Sirius UFO Space Studies Research Center President Haktan Akdogan, concerning reports of UFOs seen around Izmir, stated that air force pilots had reported similar incidents a couple of times in the past four years.
The Air Force Operations Department has been very secretive concerning reports that two of their pilots stated that they had sighted "unidentified objects." No explanations have been made while the
radar data and reports are being studied. Perhaps in an attempt to soothe possible fears, Akdogan explained that observations of "unidentified objects with characteristics seemingly above known
technology" had been made in the air space of many countries, many times.
Akdogan went on to say such information was passed around among intelligence agencies, but was rarely revealed to the public.
Reports to be revealed to the world. Akdogan is planning to reveal his findings on the UFO reports in Turkey to various organizations around
the world, who he says have started the process of trying to prepare people for such events. Akdogan said, "Beings we share the universe with are trying to prove to us that we are not the only
ones around," indicating his belief in the existence of developed life other than humans. Ankara - Turkish Daily News"
