'The Friendly Bears'

Like many of us, recalling an encounter with any form of extraterrestrial too often feels like it's our imagination running wild, or worse.

As a young child, I had vivid flashes of Beings taking me with them somewhere.  Never harming me or causing pain.  Always comforting and concerned.  I had always attributed these flashes to what I assumed was a dream I had several times.

At the age of 4, I recorded a story on a reel-to-reel tape that was called "The Friendly Bears."  A typical story for a child that age, except for a few things that didn't make sense, particularly, ".... we went inside with the Friendly Bears.  They brought the mail (?) in, and they brought the screw in."  We always laughed at this, thinking the storyteller was confused.  What did a screw and the mail have to do with it?

Well, many years later, (I am now 43) I was sitting on the beach in Puerto Penasco, Mexico, noticing that there was no other sign of mankind and telling myself, "If there was ever a better time to have a close encounter, now would be it."  Of course, I sat there for at least 15 to 20 more minutes and if an encounter occurred, I'm not aware of it.

Several years went by with me becoming more and more satisfied with accepting that I had never seen a UFO, nor an 'Alien', nor had any encounter. When what seemed like a voice in my head questioned my basis for qualifying "alien" or "extraterrestrial" or "mail" or "screw."  Wow... I'm confused now, right?  Nope.  Suddenly, like being able to watch the Zapruder film of Kennedy, I realized that intelligent life forms from other worlds could be microscopic, or beyond my visible spectrum.  Well, that just blows the lid off it!  I'll bet I wouldn't even notice their spaceships!  And what about friendly bears?  And the mail?  That, I realized was what looked like a Big Foot, but as a child, looked like a large bear to me.  The mail wasn't the letter form.  It was The Male, the Leader of them.  Not a bear-like being, but a more humanoid entity.  The screw was what the Male used to probe into my body.  He inserted it into my nose,  my ear and various other body parts. It made a soft hum and had two or three lights on it, and had a silvery-thread probe on one end.  Never do I recall feeling any pain, just fear which the friendly bears calmed and reassured.

Far out story, isn't it?  I tried to shrug it off to some subliminal imagination game that must surely be from watching an episode or two of the X-Files, but my inner consciousness knows there's some connection.  What extent?  I do not know.
