We couldn't start the car again. We argued about making a trip in the snow. We stopped arguing and then my friend suggested that I try starting the car again even though the battery was dead. I started the car and it started and I
backed out of the snow bank. We continued to his girlfriend's house in Montecello. She was upset because we arrived at her house around midnight. My friend and I were both afraid and mystified by the time lapse. We promised
to each other never to mention this incident to anyone. And I haven't until the last five years. I've told this story to ten
people. I sometimes have dreams about that night. I even written a fictional account about the incident. My friend and
I have parted being friends two months after this incident. He called me in 1993 and in so many words suggested that his life hasn't been the same since that night. As for me, I just have dreams about it once or twice a year. The Dreams:
He acted as if he knew them. I felt trapped. I had this feeling that we were all held captive. I wasn't afraid because in
my mind I knew I had to be dreaming. It just had to be a dream. I told My friend that. My friend laughed and agreed
but the three women were terrified and kept assuring us that it wasn't a dream. My friend told us that he knew how to escape. He said that through the muddy pool at the bottom was a grill. He knew how to remove the grill then once
through the grill there was a long passage way that led to an open area. I assured My friend that I wasn't going to try to escape because I couldn't swim. I didn't have the stamina to hold my breath that long under water.
We argued about it. Meanwhile something was coming for us and we didn't have much time. My friend used the metallic chair to break the window. We all climbed out onto a grimy sandy beach like floor. The pool had an awful odor.
The women were just as afraid as I was about swimming under water and besides, the pool of water was so dirty it looked like quick sand. Something opened the room door. A bright light blinded us. My friend screamed at me to hold
my breath and he pulled me along with him into the pool. He held onto my hand. I closed my eyes. I was suffocating
under the dirty water. I was dreaming so I just let My friend pull me along until we came out of the water to a marsh land. My friend and I took off our clothes and then ran for our lives.
Where are we? I asked him. He didn't have a chance to answer because three men dressed in army fatigues came running toward us. We ran from them. My friend tripped and fell. "Don't worry about me! Keep going! Don't let them
catch you!" I ran and ran. Floor #309 turned into wreckage. I was running among the ruins from three men dressed in
army fatigues. The sunlight became brighter. "Where am I? Why am I running?" I thought to myself. Then I heard this voice in my head, "Fly! Fly away!" and I began to fly. |
