Mars, the Planet next out from Earth, is at the moment, closer than it has been for nearly 60,000 years. Each Planet orbits the Sun in their own respective ellipitical path. Earth's path takes it closer to the Sun. However, with this encounter, Earth and Mars will be at "opposition." In other words, Earth and Mars will be on the same side of the Sun and all three heavenly bodies lined up in a row.

For the last 50 years or more, people have been seeing increased UFO activity at those times of closeness, than at any other time.

UFO Sightings jump by more than 150% when we are close to Mars and fall off as the Red Planet recedes.

Does this mean that UFO’s are from Mars? Is there a relationship between them or is it just coincidental?

As a UFO Investigator and an avid reader of everything I could get on the subject, it is my opinion that there is a definite relationship between Mars and UFO Sightings.

One of the most interesting and informative books I have ever read on the subjects of Mars, Life on Mars, The Cydonia Face and Pyramids, Comets and catastrophic Comet strikes on Earth and Mars was a book called “The Mars Mystery” by Graham Hancock.

Many of his theories are so “common sense logical” that it is hard to imagine that they could not be the truth.

Many meteorites found on earth are known to come from Mars, blasted off that planet by meteor strikes.

Many of these meteorites contain simple clay. "So what?" you say. Well, clay is formed over millions of years, by water breaking down the rocks to talc size powders which are then cemented into clay by the water.

For water to exist on a Planet’s surface, it must be under a degree of atmospheric pressure, otherwise it boils off into space at temperatures a little over zero.

Mars has no surface water now and no atmosphere, but it must have had both for the clay to form and had it for a long, long time.

Mars has evidence of sea beds and dried up rivers where great torrents of water have carved their way to the lowland areas. Some of them look more like the drainage channels from great floods than merely normal rivers.

Why is there no atmosphere, no rivers, no seas? Current science tells us that the atmosphere drifted off over millennia and the seas just dried up.

This ignores the reasons how meteorites were blasted off the Red Planet. It ignores the fact that gradual drying up of rivers and seas would have left the Martian winds (we can see dust storms even by telescope from here) to cover and fill the traces of river beds and ocean floors.

In Graham Hancock’s book, he traces the known Comets in the Solar System, He describes the earth shattering collisions that this Planet endured, on several occasions.

95% of all life here was wiped-out, even though the comet/rock that caused it, was estimated at only 1-1.5 kilometres across. He tells of the remains of Comets that existed in the past, known from their still existing tails that we pass through every solar orbit. Thousands of comets and rocks still exist in earth crossing orbits today and most of them are well in excess of the dinosaur exterminators of our past.

Graham Hancock's theory is that Mars had an atmosphere and abundant surface water until at least 60,000 years ago. All the requisites of life. He tells of a great meteoric impact on Mars, around that time which was many times larger than what the Earth ever experienced. A rock or comet measuring over 10 kilometers in size hit Mars head on, punching its way through the core and blowing out an area of crust with pressure waves directly opposite the impact.

He backs up this theory with proof that there is an area on that planet in which thousands of square kilometres are nothing but a broken crustal rubble field, lower than the surface mean diameter by around 4 kilometers.

On the exact opposite side of the Planet is the Mons Olympus Plain, which is a bulge in the planets surface giving it a higher elevation than the mean diameter, by around 13 kilometers. This is a pressure bulge. Something pushed this area of the Planet out and vented its internal molten lava through three gigantic volcanos, the largest of which, is 33 kilometers high.

If his theory is correct, and I believe it is, an event of this magnitude would have blasted away all of the Planet’s atmosphere and incinerated all living things in minutes.

Could this Planet have had an advanced civilisation??? Of course, it is possible. Hancock's book goes on to describe the enigmatic “Cydonia Face” of Mars and the Pyramid structures nearby.

By examining the size, shape and geometric layout of these structures and comparing them with the Egyptian Pyramids and the Sphinx, he builds a case for contact between an ancient Mars civilisation and that of Earth's emerging one.

Could the survivors of the Mars catastrophe have settled on Earth or be still visiting us in their disc shaped craft???. While we cannot prove it absolutely, we have to consider this as a more plausible theory of UFO origin, than a lot of other theories currently getting around.

On the other hand, if we discount all the above, we are still left with more numerous UFO Sightings on Earth, when Mars is closest.

Galactic visitors who wished to study,help or abduct us, would not want obvious bases on Earth. Mars and the Moon would provide much more privacy to accommodate their purposes, whatever they may be.

Whatever the background is to the connection between Mars and UFO’s visiting Earth, there is ample evidence to suppose that at least some of the visiting craft(s) currently come from Mars, or at least use the Planet, as a Base, to come here.
